Safety First

Exhilarating outdoor sports come with risks – they wouldn’t be so thrilling if they didn’t.

As adventure sport and activity experts, we work hard with providers to keep you safe throughout your New Zealand journey, no matter what you’re doing.

This is how we do it:

  • We only work with adventure activity providers who are registered with Worksafe NZ, so they’re audited regularly.
  • All the guides and instructors we use are appropriately qualified and experienced.
  • Rental companies are chosen based on their safety standards and the level of safety training they go through.
  • We communicate clearly with our clients about safety responsibility during different sections of itineraries, we ask our customers to read and sign waivers to ensure they understand the responsibilities.
  • On multi-day hikes or bike trails, we recommend and supply Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs), which will alert emergency services if needed.
  • We recommend appropriate travel insurance for your trip – check that your provider covers kayaking above grade three, mountain biking, and races.

You must be honest with the Adventurers Travel Co and any providers about your skill level for your chosen sport, so appropriate activities can be selected. Failure to do so may incur further costs and require changes to the itinerary.

New Zealand’s changeable weather can have a major impact on activities. Adventurers Travel Co and its providers reserve the right to cancel activities if necessary due to weather conditions. For example, heli drops could be cancelled and choices of river or trail may have to be changed.

It is important to note that you are responsible for your own safety during independent sections of the itinerary. Adventurers will provide a level of information as part of our service to you, however it is vital that this is reviewed alongside other information sources, your own knowledge and experience to make your own safety decisions about an activity based on the risks and dynamic risks perceived by you at the time.

About Adventurers

Life is about making time for the things we love – and minimising time spent on mundane but essential tasks.

I’m Rachel Howells, the owner and operator of Adventurers travel. I’m passionate about outdoor sports and activities, adventurous challenges – anything that involves the freedom and exhilaration of the great outdoors.

Moving to New Zealand let me indulge my love of hiking, white water paddling, mountain biking, and many other adventurous outdoor activities you can think of. Now I have a Kiwi partner in adventure, and we spend as much time as possible outside, finding new, exciting things to do all over the country.

All these experiences help me do more for my clients – I know the best places to go, how much time you need to spend, and the best providers to work with.

My background, as a Mechanical Engineer working in manufacturing, doesn’t sound very adventurous. But after quitting my job for a year of travel, my organisational and logistical skills helped me make the most of my limited travel time. Those same skills are the basis of the Adventurers Travel – they make it easy for me to book complex itineraries for large groups, organise gear and accommodation, and co-ordinate everything so you don’t waste a single hour of your holiday time.

Pricing

Everyone needs at least one adventure in their life, so we do our best to make our services as accessible as we can.

We work on commission from providers, so you don’t pay more for your holiday. Providers build commissions into their pricing, so you’d usually pay the same price if you booked directly.

You’ll get an itinerary to suit your budget, your time limits, and your passions. This means every itinerary – and the costs associated – is unique.

Prices quoted are not fixed until booking is confirmed and first deposit is paid. You can find our Terms and Conditions of payment here Adventurers Terms and Conditions of Booking
